India Education Fund

The ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India launched a Bharat Shiksha Kosh (India Education fund. on January 9th, under the chairmanship of S.K. Tripathi, Secretary, Department of Secondary and Higher Education, New Delhi. The fund is designed to receive donation/contributions/endowments from individuals and corporations, NRIs and PIOs for further educational development in India. the focus of the fund is to provide quality education,  development of information technology, improving the quantity and quality of research international benchmarking and to augment capacity in now and emerging areas like biotechnology,  nano-technology, material science, alternative energy sources, and genetic engineering. The endeavor will also be to promote research and development activities in these areas and to setup 'centers of excellence' for accelerated educational development. India has made impressive strides in the field of education since independence. the literacy rate, which was just 16.67% in 1951 rose to 65.38% in 2001. As of 1998-99, India had 817,000 primary schools, 110,000 secondary/senior secondary schools, 11,809 colleges and 227 universities, Student enrolment exceeds 7.4 million. Bangalore IT.Com

The Sixth edition of Bangalore IT.Com, Asia's largest IT event is scheduled to be held in Bangalore from 1st to 5th November 2003. Bangalore IT.Com 2003 , as every year, will feature trade show and concurrent conference on topics of the day. This mega event has been growing every year, ever since its inception in 1998.
